I am really struggeling to find the search service application. When I look at the create new service application, there is only one posible application that I can create, and it most certainly is not the search service. When I try to manage the services that I do have, there is also no search service, as if it's not part of SharePoint at all. I did not set up the server, so I can't give you the details on how it was set up, but I do believe that something went wrong during or right after the installation. When I try to search for something it says "The web application at xxxxxxxxx could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application". I know that is not the issue, since I had an IT professional look at it, and he proved that that was not the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
