We recently installed the August Security patches on a customer SharePoint farm. Since then, users have reported problems, one relating to the rss news feed web part on the home page not displaying news feed items, and one regarding the system not displaying search results.
a colleague of mine, and I did not encounter this issue, but another colleague did. What I found was that the colleague who encounters the issue was not a site collection administrator. When I made them a site collection administrator, news feed items were displayed, and they were also able to run searches.
It, therefore, looks like users have to be a sire collection administrator for the rss news feed web part and SharePoint searches to work, which is not an acceptable solution.
I have also noticed that the following error being logged in the ULS log since the installation of the August 2019 patches:-
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Thesecurity validation for this page is invalid. Click Back in your Web browser, refresh the page, and try your operation again.
at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.ValidateFormDigest(String bstrUrl, String bstrListName)

I was just wondering whether anyone else has encountered this issue since the installation of the August security patches
